Plants and other landscaping details are a big part of creating curb appeal. While it’s easy to accomplish this in the warmer months of the year, during winter there are typically not many pops of color to be found. The good news is that it is not as hard as you might think to add seasonal cheer by planting brightly colored plants that can withstand winter weather.
There are a number of plants that thrive in winter. This includes the camellia, which is often referred to as the Rose of Winter. This gorgeous, flowering shrub has quite a long blooming season and features deep green leaves that appear glossy in winter and flowers that range in color from pink to red.
Another option is winterberry plants, which are great for adding color both inside and out. Despite losing its leaves at the end of fall, bright red berries remain on this plant even when the ground is covered in snow. Winterberry branches are also very popular for cutting and using in flower arrangements.
A third choice to consider is snowdrop, which first blossoms in late winter. In fact, snowdrops may even push up through the snow before it all melts. When the snow is gone, snowdrops make a great replacement for that blanket of white snow. Like winterberry, snowdrops can be cut and brought indoors to liven up your home during the late winter months.
Take some time between now and spring to visit a greenhouse or do some research so you know when to plant each of these for a brighter and more colorful winter next ye
