Halloween is quickly approaching, and it’s a great time to attract attention to a home for sale. As people make their way door to door while trick or treating with their children, they are able to get an up-close look at your home. In addition, because friends tend to gather together for the holiday festivities, your home will also be exposed to people outside of those who normally pass through your neighborhood.
Make sure your home is in tip-top shape in advance of Halloween so it will make a good impression on guests who just may be looking to purchase a home, or know someone who is.
Ensure a well-manicured look by making sure your lawn is mowed and clear of leaves, branches and other debris shortly before Halloween night. Clearing pathways and trimming back bushes and trees is also recommended.
Create a safe and inviting atmosphere with lighting. If you have decorative lights in your landscaping and along pathways, make sure they are turned on and that the bulbs and glass covers are clean.
Sweep your front porch, set out a new decorative mat and invest in a nice wreath or other tasteful door hanging. As guests approach to ring your doorbell on All Hallows’ Eve, they’ll be greeted by a festive and welcoming scene.
Inside, make sure your foyer is shining. Remove any clutter from sight and consider lighting a candle for both the visual and olfactory effect.
Even if you are not selling your home, take the opportunity on Halloween to meet your neighbors, see all kinds of people dressed up in costume and enjoy sweet treats.
